As you can see there is a lot going on to get our meet started on time. It is important for everyone to be ready when they come to the pool. I recommend that you have your kids covered in sunscreen before arriving at the pool. The earlier you come the better it will be. The pool area gets crowded really fast between 4:00 pm and 4:15 pm. You can bring in your camping chairs and put them where you want to watch the meet at the beginning of set-up time. Then help with the meet set-up.
Set-up
If you can be at the pool at 4:00 pm, then we will use everyone available to help prepare the deck while the coaches put the lane lines in and the blocks for each lane. Those that are available, we will NOT be stacking lounge chairs. Pool Committee members will give us instructions on how are to care for our new furniture. We will be moving them to areas away from both ends of the pool.
Parking
If you can, try to drop off your kids and gear and then park at home if possible so we can accommodate our visiting team. Please do not park on both sides of the street. Do not park near intersections or corners of intersections. There is a space of 15 to 30 feet that has to remain clear. We will have signs on the side where we are not to park and on some corners. Also, make sure you are parked in the direction traffic flows. Police regularly patrol our subdivision our first home meet to make sure emergency vehicles can pass on our streets.
Sportsmanship
We need to all remember to be good hosts and help our visiting team. Also, please remind your swimmers to tell their opponents, even teammates, 'good job', when they finish their events. They can even reach over and shake hands. Teams can give feedback to the ASA league coordinator on teams that exhibit great sportsmanship to recommend them for a Team Sportsmanship award. We should strive for that recommendation as a community and swim team.
Clean up
This is also a team effort. We have to put everything back we moved. Clear out all trash and put in the dumpster. Kids are to also be cleaning up their tank including trash and belongings. Once this is all done, then the pool is officially open for everyone until closing time.
