Arm Marking Guide
On the morning of each meet, a Heat Sheet for that meet is sent to you so you can see what your child is swimming at the meet. Each family is responsible for getting their swimmer’s arm marked. Markers will be available on the morning of the meet practices. You will use the report sent to you to mark your child’s arm with the events and heats and lanes. See below on how to write your swimmer’s arm.
There will be Heat Sheets at the pool and other parents that can help you with this process.
Before warm-ups, all swimmers need to see the team’s tent volunteers to check in and make sure there are no changes to your swimmer's events. Please help your swimmer get checked in and in their age group area.
Please familiarize yourself and your child with the marking system to help the meets run smoothly.
Arm markings will be ordered as follows:

Heat
Lane (position in relay)
Event Abbreviations
FR - Free Relay
MR - Medley Relay
FS - Freestyle
BK - Backstroke
IM - Individual Medley
BR - Breaststroke
BF - Butterfly
Examples
Individual Event
A child swimming event 42, backstroke "BK" in Heat 1, lane 4 will be marked as:
42 25 BK 1/4
If the event is more than 25 yards of the stroke the marking will appear with the yards identified. For example, if the above race is 50 yards the arm will be marked as:
42 50 BK 1/4
Relay
A child swimming event 1, a freestyle relay "FR”, in lane 2, as the 3rd swimmer on the relay team will be marked as:
1 FR 1/2 (3)
Note: swimmers will swim in more than 1 event. Multiple races will be listed on your child's arm. For example:
1 FR 1/2(3)
